Project Instructions :
Detailed instructions in ‘about.htm’ in sub-folder ‘Services’. This file is about usernames and passwords.
Your startup username/password is:
This is only for get-started testing. You need to login with these then change the password to your own more secure password. It is a good idea to change the username as well. You can do that through the user interface by creating a new user with a level of 4, then delete ‘admin’. Or you can go directly into Database “Control”, Table “Persons” and change the Username there from ‘admin’ to something less obvious for hackers to try.
If you forget the admin password THEN this is how you rescue your website.
You need to work on the database file “Control.mdb”
This lives in sub-folder “App_Data”.
If you have remote access to the site only by FTP then you will need to download “Control.mdb”, work on it then upload again.
XMContentManager encrypts all passwords entered via its registration forms, but it will also work with plain text passwords entered directly into the database. The purpose of this is to give a rescue path for administrators who lose or forget their passwords.
In table “Persons”, enter your new password in plain text. If working by FTP, upload this modified database back into your remote site.
THEN you can login to your website with that password. You can and should change it immediately. You can enter the same password in again with the “Change Password” form and it will become encrypted.
